若译为"每条狗都有他的日子"，对原文可谓达到了绝对的忠实，然而，该句话要表达的实际意思是"人人都有自己得意的时候"。可见，一味的忠实，不一定能准确再现原文的真实含义。

6. She is available for that job.

将 available 译为"她胜任那项工作"远比译为"她对那项工作是适合的"要好，并且更准确地体现了原文的意义。

三、中文修辞不当表达中存在明显的翻译腔

未经修改前，译文似乎也将原文的基本意义表达出来了，但整篇通读后总感觉不是地道的中文，明显存在翻译腔，而查对原文则发现英文表达简明扼要。

7. Incentives for cost minimization are increased, and costs become more transparent.

原译：对降低成本的刺激被增加了，成本变得更为透明。

改译：增加了对成本的极小化的刺激，成本更具透明度。

8. Transmission typically accounts for around l0% of final energy costs in a mature system.

笔者将 mature 译为"成熟的"，改译后用"考虑周到的"表示，就更符合中文修辞。

9. Ash disposal is a significant consideration.

10. The agreement is unique, as it has been negotiated before the 400kV transmission line is built.

在例 9、 10 中，分别将 significant consideration 和 unique 由原译"重要的考虑事项"、"唯一独特的"改为"重要的问题"、"颇具特色"，突出汉语的精炼。

四、表达罗嗦、不简洁

11. Irrespective of the approach, it is important to agree tariffs before investments proceed.

原译：不论采用哪种方法，在投资前达成一致同意的电价是重要的。

改译：不论方法如何，重要的是投资前达成一致同意的电价。

12. This system requires confidence in the cost information,and this is reinforced by cost auditing.

原译：这种系统要求对成本资料有把握，它可以通过审计成本得到强化。

改译：该系统要求信赖成本资料，并通过审计成本而得以强化。

省略不必要的词，并作词序调整。

13. They are often associated with requests to safeguard investments - and perhaps the transmission lines associated with them - that may raise security issues in the country concerned.

原译：它们通常与保护投资的要求结合在一起，或许与保护输电线路的要求结合在一起--那就可能会引发有关国家的安全问题。

将上句中划线部分改译为"或许涉及到输电线路"，重复的部分去掉，而且还删去笔者增加的"保护"一词，以免引起误会。
